Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Paid game for Playstation 3)
I could keep it very simple by saying something like "If you have a playstation 3 without Metal Gear Solid 4, get a thick encyclopedia and slap every part of it against your head saying "I’m a dumbass". Afterwards buy the game.".However, that wouldn’t be very informative, so I’ll add a very short description: Great story, great cutscenes, great gameplay, a lot of options, a lot of things to do, a lot of ways to play the game, online multiplayer, nearly art… EPIC TACTICAL ESPIONAGE GAME.

Phosphor (Browser Based Shooter)
It’s incredible what people can do these days, a high quality shooter… in a browser. The gameplay is a bit Quake-y, but it’s fun to play for a while with bots. The downside of the story is that there’s only one level, but a great upside is that the game should support LAN multiplayer. A great game to amaze yourself at what’s possible these days.

Splitter (Physics based flash game)
If you measure the quality of flash games in addictive gameplay, splitter must be the best flash game on the web. The concept is really simple, but stunningly effective. You must roll a ball to a goal. The only setback is that you must do this by splitting objects in the level after which the physics take every control out of your hands. The main goal of each level is to get the ball to the goal as fast as possible, but it’s great fun to try getting each level with only one or two cuts. One of the few flash games that guarantee a lot of wasted time.

WarRock (Free to Play MMO Shooter)
Why on earth should you play this game? I don’t know… It sucks pretty hard: bad graphics, extreme lag, weapon options from the last millenium, nevertheless, the store looks a lot like that of battlefield heroes… Talking about battlefield, it’s a big battlefield rip off, the big difference is that it’s a lot worse than the original battlefield. So why should you play this game? Maybe if you are in the rare occasion of you buying a mechanical computer from the stone age and being a real FPS addict. I don’t see any other reason. Nevertheless, try it if you’re bored.

FreeCol (Open Source Colonization Clone)
This is perhaps the most popular open source game. It’s a Colonization rip off, true, but it really works and is actually fun to play. I do think that the game lacks of a campaign mode, but you should be able to enjoy yourself without it. It supports online multiplayer options and there are 4 civilations to choose from to play with. If you are looking for a game that takes a lot of time to play, this is a great candidate.
